Precis: First Things First, (2000) adbusters proposes the same call as its first incarnation. However the difference being here compared to last is a much more modern, simplified take and understanding of the text. Modernising it to give the same message but make it more suitable to life of the present day. Examples of this can be shown in new aspects added to the 2000 edition such as; consumerism running uncontested.
Image Analysis:
Disrepresentation Now! (2001) Experimental Jacket
I shall use the above image for analysis, back in 2001 Experimental Jetset, decided for their lecture to experiment with a more creative response for the convention. Instead of relying on verbal communication, they decided to put their point across visually, using sticker-sheets of 3 different colours, red , blue and red. Each individual at the lecture would wear these stickers to create a creative imagination of 3 different 'political parties' creating a site-specific artwork.
All texts convey their own individual meaning, however there is one underlying similarity within all that links them together. They all express a need for change in the graphic design industry, maybe not all reasons link however they all link by the purpose and intent of their manifests. All use the same technique expressing what the problem is, where the industry is at that current time, and what and why we go about a change.
